It is now our policy to ask customers whether they ‘need' a bag. Sue Ryder Care is encouraging customers to bring their bag back with them and reuse it on their next shopping visit.
In 2007, we spent over £100,000 providing free plastic bags to customers. We would like to see this money spent on providing our specialist healthcare services. To help customers to reuse shopping bags, we offer a range of natural fibre jute bags priced at £1.49 and £1.99.
We have launched our plastic BOBB bag for a minimum donation of 10p. Read more
Dame Judi Dench said: "We should all be thinking about the environmental impact of using new plastic carrier bags. The Sue Ryder Care charity is doing just that and has come up with a range of reusable bags, which not only look good but save the charity money too – around £100,000 a year that will be used instead to care for more people living with Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, Stroke and Cancer."
